I Could Find a Better Candidate i 15 Minutes

Well you all know the mid-term elections are coming and along with them control of both the House and Senate.  Of course, we are all focusing on the swing states which will determine control of the legislature.

And among the swinger states is Georgia.

Not too long ago, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell expressed his concerns regarding the quality of Republican Senate candidates and their ability to win.  The Donald immediately attacked McConnell calling him an old hack with a death wish.  He then called McConnell’s Chinese wife “Coco Chow,” accusing her of “getting her family rich” back in China.

McConnel was talking about several Republican Senatorial candidates who won their primaries with Trump support.  Mehmet Oz running in Pennsylvania is one of them.  Blake Masters of Arizona is another.  There are several others.  But the ultimate unqualified candidate is dumb as a rock Herschel Walker.

Herschel Walker, for those of you who don’t know played football at Georgia, leading the school to national championships.  He won the Heisman Trophy.  He went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys and several other teams.

The Georgia Republican party needed a black man to run against the incumbent black Senator Raphael Warnock.  I sit and shake my head at the thought of a well-known black man accepting the nomination of the white supremacist Georgia Republican party.  This is a state where it would be dangerous to go jogging through many upper middle class white neighborhoods.  We saw that not too long ago.  But hey, that’s just me.

Walker is a lousy candidate who is manifestly unqualified for the job he is seeking. Before announcing his candidacy last year. he never showed any interest in public policy or government service. The only reason he’s even in the running for a Senate seat is that he was a star running back at the University of Georgia.  The last time Walker was relevant, the Soviet Union was still going strong. Of course, there’s also the fact that Donald Trump endorsed him for the job.

What’s different about Walker are the legitimate and increasingly awkward questions about whether years of playing football affected his mental acuity. Walker isn’t simply clueless about the issues he would have to tackle were he to be elected. He holds childlike views and struggles to communicate in even a semi-coherent manner.

Even Newt Gingrich expressed the belief that Walker has to be excused because he suffered too many concussions.

Over the summer, for example, he criticized the Green New Deal by telling supporters that it was a policy rip-off. Why? According to Walker, America has some of the cleanest air in the world (that’s not actually true), “but since we don’t control the air, our good air decided to float over to China’s bad air so when China gets our good air, their bad air got [sic] to move. So, it moves over to our good air space.” Walker’s solution? “We got to clean that back up.”

Eh, huh?

According to a report by Georgia Public Broadcasting, Walker had been complaining about China and India’s “bad air” for weeks.

In the spring, he publicly wondered why if evolution is real, there are still apes in the world.

He responded to the Uvalde shooting by proposing “a department that can look at young men that’s looking at women that’s looking at social media” when asked about new gun laws proposed in Congress (the place where Walker aspires to hold a job) “what I like to do is see it and everything and stuff.”

The campaign, facing such monumental problems of the candidate, has decided to run Walker as a “Christian.”  Newt came out yesterday and said the best thing about Walker is that he would be a true Christian in the Senate.

Eh, seems that might be a problem too

Walker has been accused of abuse by his own son, aptly named Christian, an evangelical on-line influencer, as abusive and absent. It has been alleged that Walker held a gun to his wife’s head and threatened to blow her brains out.

That’s when he was home.  Turns out the candidate has 4 children with 4 different women, 3 of whom he never mentioned prior to a damning article in The Daily Beast. As Christian noted, this is the man who has preached about the evils of absentee fatherhood for years.  He was never there with us, claimed Christian because “he was out banging other women.”

Finally, Walker, the man of faith, took his stance on abortion.  He is opposed to it witout exception for rape, incest or the life of the mother.  “Thou shalt not kill” sayeth the Lord.

Well turns out he paid for the abortion of anonymous woman.  She had the receipt from the clinic and his check in repayment along with a card “Get Well Soon.”

“It’s a lie!” squealed Walker and the GOP.  A damnable lie.  Never happened.  All politics.

Oh wait.  Turns out the women is one of the mothers of his four children, never acknowledged publicly.

So, our candidate, who is ready to let a woman die rather than have an abortion, paid for one. himself.   Newt says e understands “from one adulterer to another.”

Walker also discussed transgender children, stating: “they’re telling the young kids in school, you can be a boy tomorrow even if you’re a girl … But I want the young kids to know you go to heaven. Jesus may not recognize you. Because he made you a boy. He made you a girl.”

Asked about same-sex marriage, Walker stated that same-sex marriage was “against stuff I believe in” and that Congress and states should be free to decide the legality of same-sex marriage.

The GOP has stated all of this is false and blames the son Christian for smearing the candidate.  Walker’s response?  “I need to go home and spank him.”

According to a blockbuster Daily Beast piece from earlier this summer, emails and texts from his own campaign advisers show them “discussing how they don’t trust Walker—both to tell the truth to them and to handle campaign events properly—and harboring concerns that he isn’t mentally fit for the job.”

“He spouts falsehoods ‘like he’s breathing,’ said one adviser. “He’s lied so much that we don’t know what’s true,” said another. One source even called the campaign “a shitshow on a train in the middle of a wreck,” which, truth be told, doesn’t make a lot of sense but also doesn’t sound very good.

Some Christian.

Those hypocrites will vote for him anyway. He’s probably got a fifty/fifty chance of being elected.  He will sit there inthe Senate and vote as he is told.

Too bad.

His opponent the incumbent Raphael Warnock is Paster of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, following in the footsteps of Martin Luther King.

About toritto

I was born during year four of the reign of Emperor Tiberius Claudius on the outskirts of the empire in Brooklyn. I married my high school sweetheart, the girl I took to the prom and we were together for forty years until her passing in 2004. We had four kids together and buried two together. I had a successful career in Corporate America (never got rich but made a living) and traveled the world. I am currently retired in the Tampa Bay metro area and live alone. One of my daughters is close by and one within a morning’s drive. They call their pops everyday. I try to write poetry (not very well), and about family. Occasionally I will try a historical piece relating to politics. :-)

Your country is going down the shitter at warp speed! The thought that this man could even be considered to be a candidate at his level of intelligence would be enough to make me move to Canada on the next available aircraft.
I really worry for you, Frank. America makes the UK look like a wonderland.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  4. Even McConnell has commented on the poor quality candidates running for republican congress. It’s about the radical right and trump brainwashed election deniers. These people haven’t a clue what’s ahead should these morons find a place in our government alongside MTG. Gosar, etc. even the elderly aren’t wise enough to protect SS and Medicare.
