HEY WORDPRESS!! CAN YOU HELP??

Who is “Sur.ly”?

Recently I went to log onto my wordpress blog (toritto.wordpress.com) and encountered a page evaluating my blog for various offensive themes.  There aren’t any but the sur.ly page blocks access to my blog.

I am currently accessing through my emails concerning posts and comments.

I have never encountered this problem in the more than a decade I have posted here.

I have tried to contact sur.ly with no luck.

What gives?  This seems like some kind of trolling. I have recently deleted a number to “Christians” from my followers list.

HELP!

P.S.  Has anyone come across this problem when searching for my blog?

Many thanks.

PPS – I don’t have the problem when using Google Search

About toritto

I was born during year four of the reign of Emperor Tiberius Claudius on the outskirts of the empire in Brooklyn. I married my high school sweetheart, the girl I took to the prom and we were together for forty years until her passing in 2004. We had four kids together and buried two together. I had a successful career in Corporate America (never got rich but made a living) and traveled the world. I am currently retired in the Tampa Bay metro area and live alone. One of my daughters is close by and one within a morning’s drive. They call their pops everyday. I try to write poetry (not very well), and about family. Occasionally I will try a historical piece relating to politics. :-)

This is completely new to me, Frank. I wish I could help, but I don’t have a clue. Have you tried the Happiness Engineers? Saying that, I realise you probably have no access to them currently. Good luck!
(I will reblog and ask for help for you.)
    Best wishes, Pete.

Can anyone help Frank? He has come across a WordPress issue I have never heard of. Please read his post and let him (or me) know if you can solve the issue. Thank you.

I can access your blog fine, Frank. There is a sure.ly plugin, but I think you are using the free WordPress and if so you cannot install plugins. Sounds like it might be coming from WordPress themselves. I would get in touch with the happiness engineers.

It’s not a hack. Somehow that extension is running in your browser and making content decisions for you. I have no problem accessing your site as a link out from another site (Pete) or a direct search. I’d suggest opening your browser extensions and kill anything you don’t recognize. It could have flown in piggybacked to something. Empty your cache, tmp files, internet DAT file… or use a free cleanup program like CCleaner and run it a couple of times a day just to clear the junk and try to get into your dashboard. Failing there, download an optional browser. Google Chrome, Opera. I’d suggest you uninstall and reinstall Edge, but it knows what was in your browser before and will simply reload all your data. One more – if you are logged into Edge, log out, and run it without any extensions.

  8. If I understand it, Sur.ly is a so-called URL-Shortener with which you can shorten a long URL (uniform resource locator alias Internet address) easily and free of charge. A service, here sur.ly makes it simple to shorten a long internet address, and forwards to the real internet address. It is a time -based service, so after a while, the link is no longer functional. xx Michael
