Bull Shit Prayers

And so we add Uvalde to the long list going back to Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland et al.  Hand wringing.  Usual bull shit thoughts and prayers.

“We know from past experience that the most effective tool for keeping kids safe is armed law enforcement on the campus.”   So says Texas Senator Ted Cruz.  His solution is more guns on campus.  Parroting the NRA.

Cruz, Texas Senator Cronyn and Texas Governor Abbott are all scheduled to speak at the NRA Convention this weekend in Texas.  How timely

Cruz went on.

“Inevitably after a murder of this kind you see politicians try to politicize it. You see Democrats and a lot of folks in the media whose immediate solution is to try to restrict the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. That doesn’t work,” he argued.

Other Texas officials had similar proposals. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick called to “harden targets” like schools. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who won his primary runoff hours after the shooting, called for arming teachers.

“We can’t stop bad people from doing bad things,” he told Fox News. “We can potentially arm and prepare and train teachers and other administrators to respond quickly. That, in my opinion, is the best answer.”

But police say that armed cops engaged the shooter but failed to stop the massacre. Police say the killer shot his grandmother and drove to the school, crashing his pickup truck, before he was engaged by officers.  Police engaged the shooter outside the school but were unable to stop him.  They said he was wearing body armor but this was disputed by Houston’s KPRC – TV.

In any case, having cops there didn’t stop anyone.  There were armed guards at Parkland as well.

The killer barricaded himself in one classroom.  Police were in the building but didn’t storm the classroom.  They began evacuating remaining children as they heard shots being fired in the classroom – the children and teachers were being killed one by one.  But no cop stormed the classroom.  They were busy until everyone in the room was dead.  Why risk getting killed for $45K a  year?

“Aren’t you slated to headline a speaking gig for the NRA in three days — in Houston, no less?,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez, D-N.Y., tweeted in response to Cruz’s prayers. “You can do more than pray. Faith without works is dead.”

Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., had a more forceful response.

“Fuck you Ted Cruz  You care about a fetus but you will let our children get slaughtered. Just get your ass to Cancun. You are useless,” he tweeted. “Just to be clear fuck you Ted Cruz you fucking baby killer,” he added.

Representative Paul Gosar (R – Arizona) blamed the shooting on a “leftist, transexual, illegal alien”.  None of which is true.  Makes no difference.  He’s a fucking idiot who takes his clues from 4Chan.

This killer kid bought his guns on his 18TH BIRTHDAY!  Used to be you had to be 21 but Texas lowered the age to 18 along with permitting unlicensed open carry..  On the day he was eligible our murderer went to the local gun shop and bought two assault style rifles.

You can’t legally buy a beer in America till you’re 21 but you can buy an AR-15 on your 18th birthday.    How is this reasonable or defensible?  It is if you’re in the pockets of the gun lobby.

Meanwhile, an FBI report released Monday showed that the number of active shooter attacks increased to 61 last year, a 52% increase from 2020 and a 97% increase from 2017. An analysis released earlier this month showed that guns now kill more children and young adults than car crashes for the first time.”

This old man believes that fixing our gun problem requires action in three areas:

1,  When you hear talk about fixing the background check system, most of
the time it does not even consider gun shows or online sales.   Anyone can buy a gun at a gun show without a background check.  As long as anyone, even a mentally ill person,
can walk into a gun show and buy anything they want no questions
asked, nothing has been fixed.

2.  Even if we had a truly robust background check system, it would not
keep guns out of the hands of lunatics if private parties, outside of
the background check system, were spreading them around. It MUST be
illegal, nationwide, to transfer a gun without licensing. For those irrationally paranoid about jackbooted federal thugs, we are perfectly happy with state registration systems. They work perfectly fine for cars, but they must be universal, just like car registrations.

3.   Do we allow civilians to have flame throwers, bazookas, or an Abrams
tank for so-called self-protection? No, we do not. Because these are
weapons of war, and we don’t want our streets and classrooms to be
war zones. Assault rifles, even so-called semi-automatic ones, gonzo
magazines, bump stocks, these are all totally unacceptable in private
hands in a civil society. Ban them all.

There was a time in America when a foreign army might come marching
up your street at any moment, when you might need a guy on a horse
riding at midnight to warn you they were coming, when you might need
a “well-regulated militia” to respond to an actual armed invasion. If
you want to get your hands on weapons of war in these modern times,
join a real militia, which in today’s America would be the armed forces or the National Guard.

Finally, school shooters fit a profile – 18 years old, socially isolated, perhaps bullied.  THEY ARE ALL ON LINE – making threats, showing their guns, buying body armor.  Who buys body armor?  Anyone who does should be reported to local police. Yes, I know.  I am infringing on your personal freedom.  Social media platforms need to do a better job of identifying and reporting those with a gun fetish to authorities.  It was also reported today that the subject was abusing animals on line.  He had all the signs.

It’s funny how those who claim to be “pro-life” protecting the “unborn” would so cavalierly allow these same children to be murdered in the 4th grade and do nothing to stop the carnage.

This weekend in Houston at the NRA gathering of the ammo-sexuals I’m sure we will hear more about how the socialists are coming for your guns.  They really think carrying an assault rifle gives you a big dick.  It don’t.
