Going to New York!

DSC00686

Unlike so many “netizens” who inhabit the virtual world, I have a real life – a life filled with daughters, family and real “friends”. I will be leaving the virtual world for a few days to partake of real life.

Tomorrow I will be leaving for New York, going home to attend the wedding of my brother’s youngest daughter on Saturday.  It’s been about 5 years since I last saw my aunt (my mom’s youngest sister) who is now in her 80’s and my cousins.  Everyone will be in attendance, including me.

I will eat too much.  I will probably drink too much.  I will smoke a few good cigars.  And I will live in the moment in real life.

I intend to have a very good time.

It was not too long ago when these occasions were a time to get together with the “old timers”.  Now I am the old timer.  The procession of the living goes on.

So don’t look for me until next week.  I will be shutting off my old desk top computer (I don’t own a smart phone, am not on Twitter, Instagram  or Facebook!) and leaving the virtual world for a few days.  Life will be as it once was; I’m sure the net will survive without me this weekend..

Ciao for now.

P.S. – The wedding is all Italian!  🙂

About toritto

I was born during year four of the reign of Emperor Tiberius Claudius on the outskirts of the empire in Brooklyn. I married my high school sweetheart, the girl I took to the prom and we were together for forty years until her passing in 2004. We had four kids together and buried two together. I had a successful career in Corporate America (never got rich but made a living) and traveled the world. I am currently retired in the Tampa Bay metro area and live alone. One of my daughters is close by and one within a morning’s drive. They call their pops everyday. I try to write poetry (not very well), and about family. Occasionally I will try a historical piece relating to politics. :-)
