I was born during year four of the reign of Emperor Tiberius Claudius on the outskirts of the empire in Brooklyn. I married my high school sweetheart, the girl I took to the prom and we were together for forty years until her passing in 2004. We had four kids together and buried two together. I had a successful career in Corporate America (never got rich but made a living) and traveled the world. I am currently retired in the Tampa Bay metro area and live alone. One of my daughters is close by and one within a morning’s drive. They call their pops everyday. I try to write poetry (not very well), and about family. Occasionally I will try a historical piece relating to politics. :-)

    Peter T. King (R-NY, 2nd COngressional District) had so many things wrong in his take on this tragedy. When the victim said he couldn’t breathe, King correctly noted he couldn’t speak if that were true. Of course, the reality was the victim misspoke in his stressed circumstances.

    To get Peter (sic) King’s sympathy, he should have said something like, “I am having difficulty catching my breathe, what with one asshole choking me, and a bunch others kneeling on my chest.” Say that 11 times.

    Jeez! The fact that the man was killed, if accidentally, for allegedly selling single cigarettes was the significant detail King neglected. Black lives matter! Selling single cigarettes is not a capital offense, even in NYC!

      Weggie – Peter King is the ultimate Congressional asshole. Cops are getting away with murder; if not murder then surely depraved indifference to human life. The shoot first, ask questions later (if the perp is still alive) bullshit has got to stop. Unfortunately it won’t. The Civil Rights Act wasn’t passed until the Panthers took up arms, Malcolm spoke the word and a couple of cities burned. All of which made Martin Luther King look much more reasonable. “Peaceful resistance” must include resistance. If demonstrators simply go home when they are told nothing will change. Six months from now no one will remember the names of the dead.
