Biden as Obama’s Vice President
What does it mean to be the “grown-up in the room? I’ve always thought it meant having a good sense of reality, accepting the obvious and not supporting unrealistic ideas.
Being in the eyes of many to be a good liberal, pinko, commie (pinko I may be; commie I am not) many of my views align with Senator Bernie Sanders. Many in the proverbial room will not consider these ideas nor the person who espouses them as “grown up.”
I on the other hand often wonder if many of these folks are card carrying members of the Flat Earth Society, unable to accept reality. Like Trump won the election or Covid doesn’t exist.
Many on the left are also quite capable of denying reality. Here are a few I’ve heard lately which definitely should not be accepted at face value.
Joe Biden is not too old and will be a two term President
Joe is 78 years old -same age as me. I will be 79 next month. I definitely couldn’t do the job. Joe is probably in better shape than I am but he will be 81 by the time the next Presidential election rolls around.. He is already the oldest man to take the oath of office. Reagan was 73 when he took office. Joe tries to put on a good show of being a spring chicken but one only needs to examine a photograph of when him he was Vice President to see the difference.
Dems cannot realistically count on him for two terms.
In that case Kamala Harris will succeed Joe Biden
I don’t think so. Harris has not proven herself to be wildly popular and has not shown she can handle the job – at least to this point. I personally think if Biden doesn’t run she would face a fierce primary battle for the nomination. And if the party wants a woman candidate I can think of 2 or 3 female Senators who would give her a run for her money and IMHO would do a better job.
And I’m quite skeptical about her winning if she gets the nomination. She’s going to have to perform a lot better to make her Joe’s successor.
Trump’s not going to do anything. He’s done.
Don’t count on it. Trump has an ego the size of Andromeda. I don’t think he will go for the nomination if he has to campaign hard for it but if its handed to him on a silver platter (Please Mr. Trump!) he will run vowing to crush the deep state. No matter how crazy his speeches he will carry the red states and the battle will again be in the Electoral College and swing states.
Trump can’t win.
Ask yourself who’s on the bench for the Dems? Think Trump could beat Harris? I do. So who’s the next batter up?
.
I agree that Biden is too old, and Harris ineffective. Not sure if Trump will run again, but he may front someone very much like him, and a lot younger. I still think the Dems made a bad choice with Biden, as he will always be seen as Obama’s leftovers.
Best wishes, Pete.
