Ponderings in Lock Down

Victoria’s Secret Model working from home

How many women
now in lockdown

Shall I pull up my pajama?
Why should I even bother?
My shoes think I am dead.

Sweat pants – again!
Why did I buy so many clothes?
To wear them in the kitchen?

Every day I wore a bra
I wondered why. No bra today
I feel so free!

Like I’m on a trip
bringing lots of clothes
and wearing only three.

Why oh why do I own
so many handbags?
Remember handbags
and when we carried them?

They say that wearing jeans
makes you feel better.
My husband is wearing jeans
I think he’s psychotic.

Why do I still have
the urge to buy clothes?
Where do I plan to wear them!

I should have worn
more intense hats
when wearing real clothes
was a thing

It is so hard to dress
for the kitchen and a couch
when elastic waist bands
beckon with a warm embrace.

My husband just started working
wearing only a t-shirt
and nothing else. commenting
“Dress for success darling!”

About toritto

I was born during year four of the reign of Emperor Tiberius Claudius on the outskirts of the empire in Brooklyn. I married my high school sweetheart, the girl I took to the prom and we were together for forty years until her passing in 2004. We had four kids together and buried two together. I had a successful career in Corporate America (never got rich but made a living) and traveled the world. I am currently retired in the Tampa Bay metro area and live alone. One of my daughters is close by and one within a morning’s drive. They call their pops everyday. I try to write poetry (not very well), and about family. Occasionally I will try a historical piece relating to politics. :-)

I actually have found I have no need for a majority of my clothing and certainly no need to buy more. However, I am not lounging around like that! Nor am I just wearing a t-shirt.

I have to get dressed to take Ollie out. Otherwise, it is always just a dressing gown (robe) and slippers. And that was before lockdown! My wife enjoys wearing pyjamas on her days off, but still has to wear her uniform 3 days a week to work at the doctor’s. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.
