Hurricane Dorian

Well its hurricane season here in Florida and unless you are living in a thermos bottle you know that Hurricane Dorian has taken a direct bead on our Eastern coast,  Currently it is expected to come ashore somewhere between West Palm Beach and Ft. Pierce as a Category 4 storm.

It is moving slowly and will bring torrential rains, storm surge and sustained winds of 130 – 156 miles per hour.  Once on shore  it is expected to turn northward over Orlando; over land it is forecast to weaken to a Category 1 hurricane.

All of this is expected to happen Monday – Tuesday.

While Tampa Bay is not currently in the storm’s forecasted path, My daughter Marie, her husband and Clark live in Broward, south of West Palm.  They were planning a nice long weekend in Orlando but of course have cancelled.

In the event the storm comes ashore in West Palm or further north, they will be on the weak side, though rain is expected to be quite heavy.

A niece and her boyfriend are also near them; they were expecting to spend the weekend in the Bahamas.  Cancelled.  Shit happens.

I have taken my usual hurricane precautions.  Tomorrow I will shop for essentials; mostly foods I can consume without cooking in the event I lose power.  I have batteries, candles, a portable radio;  I will keep my phone charged.
