Great White Hunters

.

.

Many of you will remember these photos from my previous posts on trophy hunting in Africa.  These folks paid thousands of dollars for the illusion of a “hunt,” riding around game “reserves” – actually ranches for a couple of days until their guide takes them to where their animal actually is.  He knows where it is going to be because the animal is “baited” there –  fed by the ranch crew so it will remain in the area.  Each client is assigned an animal for his hunt when he books – if he wants a lion, a specific lion is assigned to his booking.  Usually an older animal no longer useful for breeding purposes.

The animal assigned was born and bred on the reserve and handled by humans since it was born.  It is not afraid and senses no danger as the great white hunter approaches it – and kills it.

You can read about it here:

“White American Savage”

Well we have another disgusting example:

.

There is nothing like hunting the King of beasts in the sands of the Kalahari!”

The loving couple are Darren and Carolyn Carter of Edmonton Canada.  After killing this lion the couple immediately  had their picture taken and posted it on Facebook with the caption – where they then caught a raft of invective resulting in a quick takedown.  Then they had to disconnect their phones. Tsk tsk.

For those of you who haven’t been, most lions have seen so many tourists that they no longer sense danger.  Many will casually walk along with a tour vehicle and approach it quite closely.  Those born and raised on ranches are also used to humans, have no fear of us and were bred for killing.

There is no longer a “hunt” as the animals live mostly in protected reserves, seeing tourists every day or on “ranches” where they are bred to be killed by well off  “hunters.”  One really doesn’t need any skill to shoot an old lion who fears you as much as a cow.  Walk right up to it and shoot it between the eyes.

That’s what these two did, notwithstanding the great white hunter image they tried to project with the caption.

This animal was tame; bred and raised on a game farm for the specific purpose of being shot by these two so they could get “likes” on a Facebook page.

Maybe the act of killing made them both hot enough to shag behind the carcass.

About toritto

I was born during year four of the reign of Emperor Tiberius Claudius on the outskirts of the empire in Brooklyn. I married my high school sweetheart, the girl I took to the prom and we were together for forty years until her passing in 2004. We had four kids together and buried two together. I had a successful career in Corporate America (never got rich but made a living) and traveled the world. I am currently retired in the Tampa Bay metro area and live alone. One of my daughters is close by and one within a morning’s drive. They call their pops everyday. I try to write poetry (not very well), and about family. Occasionally I will try a historical piece relating to politics. :-)

I get so enraged by those disgusting people, I no longer regard them as human. I think I could actually kill them, which makes me feel awful. But I really don’t think such slugs deserve to go on living though. I really don’t. My only word for them is ‘scum’.
I hope that they reap what they have sown, and die sad, pointless deaths. Like their victims.
    Best wishes, Pete.

I’ve just been reading a book called “Soldaten” which talks about “autotelic violence”, something which I had never heard of, but I suppose that killing innocent animals is part of it. The book is by a young German academic and is well worth reading:
