Throwing Chum On The Waters

Well our illustrious President is at it again, creating chaos to drum up  his base prior to the mid-term elections next Tuesday.

It wasn’t enough that one of his ardent supporters decided last week that enough was enough and sent a dozen plus pipe bombs through the mail to the Emperor’s  Democratic critics, including several to CNN network, one of the “enemies of the people” and George Soros, the Jew behind all of the left wing anarchist “mobs.”  This time it was another fine right wing supporter who lived in his van, covered with decals including one with Hillary in the guns sights, and manages a strip club here in Florida.

Nice.

Now everyone on the Fascist right believes “the Jew Soros” is financing the “caravan” of mostly Hondurans fleeing their own country with their children; a country that the United States turned into the proverbial banana republic for United Fruit company a century ago.  Today Honduras is the ultimate oligarch, its villages gang-ridden, its young men, women and children threatened daily by violence.  Join or die.

So a pipe bomb got sent to Soros’ house.

Throwing chum on the waters, Trump ordered 5,200 active duty soldiers sent to the Mexican border to stop the “invasion.”  Do you think its enough to stop women and kids?

Seems a bit early to deploy the Army; the dwindling invasion force is still 900 miles and two months away,  traveling on foot.   But hey, the election is next week.  I’m sure our President wants his supporters to picture a line to troopers in full combat gear opening fire as the invasion force approached the razor wire.   They brought lots of razor wire with them.

Heehe.  That ain’t the way it works.

The invaders will ask for political asylum and each case will be adjudicated on its merits.  Those who qualify will be admitted; those who do not will be turned back.  Trump will keep them all in tent cities for months.  Will he separate the kids from their parents?  Who knows.  He may not have too; the election will be over.

It wasn’t enough that another Jew hating anti-Semite Robert Bowers murdered eleven in a Pittsburgh synagogue and wounded four others including two police officers.  That Nazi bastard posted regularly that “all Jews must die” and would be right at home having cocktails with Heinrich Himmler.

Bowers posted regularly on “Gag,” the social media network that bills itself as the “free speech Alternative” to Facebook and Twitter.  Anyone banned there for violating the terms of use can find a home at Gag.

In the weeks before the shooting, Bowers posted constantly about Jews, including denials of the Holocaust and conspiracy theories about Jews destroying the planet and secretly supporting the migrant caravan heading toward the U.S. border. Many of the posts included slurs for Jews and cartoons with stereotypical depictions of them.

Bowers also posted messages implying that Jews are manipulating President Trump or thwarting his agenda.

“Trump is a globalist, not a nationalist. There is no #MAGA as long as there is a kike infestation,” Bowers wrote Thursday.

Bowers is not the only “nationalist” (read Nazi) to come out of the woodwork since Trump was elected.

Charles Cantwell has called for the creation of an all white “ethno state” in the Pacific northwest and supports the use of violence to create it.  He expressed these views during an interview at Charlottesville during the alt-right demonstrations which left one dead and 18 injured.  He applauded the torch light parade of white Nazis on the campus of University of Virginia to the drumbeat of “Jews will not replace us!”

“We need someone like Trump but more racist!”  Cantwell pointed out that “he gave his daughter to a Jew.”

Its about time we called a spade a spade.

While our President reads scripted reasonable remarks written by his aids, within hours he will be back on Twitter and campaign rallies with his true feelings, rousing the most extreme anti-democratic elements among us.

And you wonder where the concentration camps guards and Eisengruppen killers came from?

Continuing to feed the right wing frenzy, yesterday Trump announced he could change the Constitution with an Executive Order  and end the right of full citizenship to babies born in the United States to non-citizen parents.

“We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits,” Trump said during an interview with Axios scheduled to air as part of a new HBO series starting this weekend. “It’s ridiculous. It’s ridiculous. And it has to end!”

Well first of all our President either lied (most likely) or showed his ignorance – some 33 countries, including Canada and Mexico have similar policies.  The president was even more wrong when he told an Axios interviewer, “It was always told to me that you needed a constitutional amendment. Guess what? You don’t.”

Challenged on his claim that he could use an executive order to end birthright citizenship, Trump said, “You can definitely do it with an act of Congress. But now they’re saying I can do it just with an executive order.”

No. He cannot.

The Citizenship Clause outlined in the first sentence of Section 1 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States declares that “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

There is no “lack of clarity.” There is nothing “in dispute.” There is nothing “open to question.” The Constitution says, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside.”

The president has no authority to overturn this section of the Constitution with an executive order. The president and his allies in Congress, such as noxious white nationalist Steve King (R-IO) have no authority to use a simple act of Congress to cancel the 14th Amendment—or any other amendment to the Constitution.

The president should be given no ground on this issue. After so many years of peddling so many racist and xenophobic falsehoods—about former president Obama’s birthplace, about walls and refugees and caravans—Trump cannot be permitted to use a lie about the Constitution to advance his nationalist crusade.

It seems pretty clear to me that the President cares about only one thing – himself.  His self image is that he is a “winner” – win at all costs no matter what.  Don’t be surprised if he signs such an “Executive Order” before the elections; he doesn’t care if it is later overturned.  It will have done its job – creating more chaos and diverting attention from GOP promises to eviscerate Medicare and social security.

And don’t count on the Supreme Court.

The mind reading “originalists” will argue that “all” didn’t mean “all” – it really meant only the slaves.

Trump has cast a dark shadow over this land and his breadcrumbs have allowed the roaches to come out and feed.
