A Daughter’s Art

Stephen Gregory Bier (AKA Madonna Wayne Gacy) – a long time member of Marilyn Manson – done in chalk a long time ago.

Our younger daughter showed an artistic streak at an early age and was a regular recipient of chalk and paint sets as Christmas gifts in her childhood.  She began with a fascination with “Light Bright” a children’s toy set which allowed one to place colored plastic pegs into pre-printed pictures/templates which would then light up in the different colors the child utilized.

Our daughter soon tired of the pre-printed pics and began making her own compositions sans templates.  Her compositions became so ornate and intricate that we had to buy hundreds of extra pegs over and above those included in the Light Brite set.

Soon she graduated to pencil, paint and chalk.  We knew something was going on when she won 2nd prize in a county wide art contest while still in elementary school.

Eventually she entered Monmouth University as an graphics arts major and graduated “Best Artist,” her name prominently in the year-book.  Her works were exhibited twice a year at the college arts festival.

She is currently a member of an amateur theater group here in Florida, works as an engraver and dabbles in the creation of greeting cards.

I have a garage filled with her early work (including two other members of Marilyn Manson!), while some of her creations hang in her mother-in-law’s home as well as her own.

The chalk work above hangs in my bedroom.

About toritto

I was born during year four of the reign of Emperor Tiberius Claudius on the outskirts of the empire in Brooklyn. I married my high school sweetheart, the girl I took to the prom and we were together for forty years until her passing in 2004. We had four kids together and buried two together. I had a successful career in Corporate America (never got rich but made a living) and traveled the world. I am currently retired in the Tampa Bay metro area and live alone. One of my daughters is close by and one within a morning’s drive. They call their pops everyday. I try to write poetry (not very well), and about family. Occasionally I will try a historical piece relating to politics. :-)

Don’t know if you know this, but Marilyn Manson did get his start as a performer in Florida because there used to be a huge underground metal scene in the 1990’s. :3
