Sassy and Self Interest

The young man in “perfect health” has about 30K followers on the Twitters.

He gushes Trump, and he’s your very typical supporter: low-paying job, yet fights his own self interests. Loves to play martyr, yet bashes real victims. Claims to love God and America, but hates his neighbors.

So this happened back in June:

Now first of all, the young man’s screen name is “Sassy Gay Republican.”  This immediately leads me to be suspicious of our subject’s critical thinking skills.  (Now now Toritto!  Mustn’t criticize the thinking skills of young right wing Republicans!  Typical Leftie!”)

But hey!  It fits right in with fighting his own self interest.  I guess he is grateful to the G.O.P for all they have done for his right to be “out” and speak his mind.

He is being “forced” to buy health insurance under the oppressive Obamacare; a law which takes away his “freedom” to choose whether or not to be insured.  Fascist left!

I guess it never dawns on him that he is required to buy insurance if he wants to drive a car.  Tsk tsk.  Such an infringement on our “freedoms.”  And why am I “forced” to pay into social security?  Why must I give the government my money to take care of just so they can give it back to me when I am old?  I can do that myself!  Enter John Wayne on a horse.

But then this happened shortly thereafter back in June:

So now our young sassy twitter troll has opened up a “Go Fund Me” account asking for donations to pay his five figure medical bills.  I can’t help smirking.  What was that sixties shit about “Karma?”

Begging strangers for money: the Republican way to pay for healthcare.

I don’t know what his injuries are—but he’s been well enough to be tweeting non-stop his continued hatred of all things “liberal.”

“He tweeted that he is considering declaring bankruptcy due to this accident.  Heehee.   I would ask him to consider that there is no other industrialized nation on this planet where you would go bankrupt due to a sudden medical catastrophe.

The whole conservative philosophy is centered around serving the wealthy AND healthy—and if you aren’t one, you shouldn’t be helped at all by those who are.

Sick people don’t deserve health care. Rep. Mo Brooks actually said that.

And as an added bonus to conservative orthodoxy—it’s your own damn fault. As Jason Chaffetz would have told him: maybe instead of buying that “fancy iPhone,” you should have socked some of your massive pizza delivery money away to pay your five-figure hospital bill.

Yeah, it sucks, but take comfort in the fact that those at the very top will be getting a massive tax break if this current monstrosity of a Senate healthcare bill passes.

Thousands of people will die and millions of lives will be made more painful in the GOP’s final slapdash attempt to repeal the ACA. It is stupid, cruel, and completely unnecessary. The good news is that it is on the edge of defeat. @Sassy and his ilk can thank us later.”

Meanwhile Senator John McCain has again stood up with a “no” vote based on the fact that the GOP bill is not a “repeal and replace” but simply a repeal.  Rand Paul is also opposed because he thinks it doesn’t go far enough in “repeal” in that it simply transfers the money funding Obamacare to the states in block grants.  He wants to cancel the money too.  He and Sassy can get together.

One more no vote and the bill is dead.  Senators from Alaska and Maine indicated opposition and the GOP is trying desperately to bribe them with increased funding in the bill for their states,  We will see if they are stateswomen or what the prices are to buy them lock, stock and barrel.

Use you time in hospital @sassy to think about your own self interests.

About toritto

I was born during year four of the reign of Emperor Tiberius Claudius on the outskirts of the empire in Brooklyn. I married my high school sweetheart, the girl I took to the prom and we were together for forty years until her passing in 2004. We had four kids together and buried two together. I had a successful career in Corporate America (never got rich but made a living) and traveled the world. I am currently retired in the Tampa Bay metro area and live alone. One of my daughters is close by and one within a morning’s drive. They call their pops everyday. I try to write poetry (not very well), and about family. Occasionally I will try a historical piece relating to politics. :-)

  1. Nice one, Frank! Our healthcare system isn’t perfect but at least people don’t have to worry about paying medical bills when they get sick. What a hypocrite this guy is. What goes around, comes around!

I have to say that I hope his injuries were serious, and that he gets a huge bill he cannot pay. Anyone who sends him money is a complete idiot.
That sort of person is best described with a word I cannot write on your blog, so I will settle for the English alternative slang of ‘Knob’ (Penis), instead of the coarser reference to female anatomy.
    Furiously yours, Pete. 😦

Perhaps he will now change his position, and perhaps fully develop his adolescent frontal lobe as well. This is a common occurrence when a self-professed conservative does not want to pay taxes for someone else until the day arrives where they become that someone else. Another possible outcome may be an adjustment to their otherwise cognitive dissonance where they adapt an alternate view of the single issue once it impacts them. Perhaps even senator McCain with his recent health issues now has a better appreciation of what affects the average American, that his life threatening battle would be a certain death sentence for many of us who don’t have the insurance coverage. One very enlightening statement he made was that (paraphrased) it is a disservice to the people when one party pushes through any such critical legislation, because if it has no bipartisan support, when the other party gets back in power, they are going want to repeal it. Certainly we can see this in both parties. Hopefully what will turn out in the end is that they keep what works and fix what doesn’t, rather than trying to score their political victory.

  4. Yes, karma is relentless. Most people learn, eventually. It’s too bad it takes so many people their entire life to learn the truth.
