“If the GOP goes down to crushing defeat next week (it aint over till its over) real Republicans will need to pick up the pieces.
Your platform for the future should read:
1. We will defend the United States and the Constitution against all enemies.
2. We will be careful stewards of your money and control spending.
3. We will not tell you how to live your life.
4. All are welcome in our tent.
Return to the days when the GOP was a fiscally conservative, socially moderate coalition.
Marginalize the extremist crackpots, neo-fascists, outright bigots, the purposely ignorant and those waiting for the rapture. They will vote for you anyway.
Build a true center-right Republican party.
America will respond.”

Obviously the Republicans didn’t take my advice. They moved from John McCain (who lost) to Mitt Romney (who lost) to Donald Trump who will most likely lose.
Who’s next? Heinrich Himmler? Are there any sane Republicans left? Where’s Everett Dirksen when you need him most?
The saddest part for the GOP is that just about any mainstream Republican could have beaten Hillary Clinton or made it an all nighter on election day. Hell, Mitt Romney probably could have beaten Hillary. Our Florida boy Senator Marco (whom I consider to be an empty suit) could have made it real tight.
But no. The GOP alt.right base, consisting of perhaps 30 – 35% of primary voters wanted Trump, who is now ranting that the election is “rigged” by “crooked Hillary” undermining the basis of American democracy – that elections are open, fair and transparent. His own Vice President had to go on the air this weekend and state that the Republican party will abide and accept the will of the voters.
Trump then threw his own running mate under the bus. “The election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest and distorted media pushing Crooked Hillary – but also at many polling places – SAD,” Trump wrote on Twitter,
In Hillsborough, North Carolina over the weekend a Republican campaign office was fire-bombed, with flammable material thrown through a plate glass window and an adjacent building wall was spray-painted with a swastika and the words “Nazi Republicans leave town or else.”
Clinton denounced the attack as “horrific and unacceptable” in her own tweet, adding: “Very grateful that everyone is safe. Trump tweeted “Animals representing Hillary Clinton and Dems in North Carolina just firebombed our office in Orange County because we are winning.”
Authorities have not yet determined exactly who is responsible for the fire bombing. Hopefully the perps will be arrested in a few days.
Leaving a spray painted “Nazi Republicans leave town or else!” indicates to my old brain that someone is either a wild eyed “leftie” OR it is someone who wants everyone to BELIEVE the bombing was done by a wild eyed leftie. Will the Donald still think the perp an “animal” if it turns out to be one of his supporters?
We won’t know who the authorities think did it until there is an arrest. Democratic contributors raised $13,000 in four hours to rebuild the place.
Meanwhile it was reported today that Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner spoke with a boutique media deal-making firm about the prospect of launching a television network after the election.
It’s unprecedented for a major party nominee to be considering how to profit off his support before an election’s over. And conversations about a post-election media startup reportedly began long before Trump’s poll numbers dropped. He wants to make sure “his people have a voice.”
Just what America needs – another cable news channel dabbling in swamp fever conspiracy theories and making Fox News talking heads look like Edward R, Murrow.
