What do you say
when she asks
“How do I know you love me?”
Don’t say
“I don’t;
I only love your ass.”
Don’t say
“You have to ask?”
She does; she just did.
“You should know by now”
doesn’t work. simply because
she doesn’t.
“I’m still here in the morning”
is much too snarky
for someone you love.
You live with her questions, her insecurities
her doubts; you try to help
but know you can’t.
You can no more assuage her doubt
than explain why a sock is lost
or why the sky is blue.
“You will know I love you
when you leave me; watch me from afar
then you will know”.

I was glad to see you posted. I was concerned that you may be ill.
Usually, you announce when you are taking some time off. Glad you are all right!
