Well the Iowa Caucuses are scheduled to be held on February 1, 2016 so we’d better all get ready for the big day!  America can hardly wait!  The excitement is just well….palpable!

The Sweet Sixteen Republican candidates are jockeying for position; and what a talented group they are!  Yes I know; there are only15 names listed above.  Someone else is joining the fray this week.  I don’t know anything about him and he currently has  zero support in the polls.  So I got to call the group the sweet sixteen.

The current leader, surging to the front is……………Donald Trump!

This would seem to indicate that a goodly number of Republicans won’t vote for any of their own elected officials to be President.  I don’t blame them.

What we need is a bonafide billionaire in the White House – err – Trump House.  After all, the billionaire class should have it’s interests represented just like po’ folk.

The Donald wants all of you who don’t know any better to think that he is a “self made man”; pulled himself up by his own bootstraps.   Well, that’s not exactly true.

Donald’s father built low and middle income housing all over Brooklyn and Queens after the war; my in-laws lived in one his apartment buildings.  Donald’s father paid union wages to his workers and still left Donald a fortune estimated at $400 million.  Dad also gave Donald his first chance in the real estate business, putting him in charge and financing a rehab project in Cleveland.  Nice.

Tough way to start.  Donald also got 4 college deferments during the Vietnam War.  That’s four.  He made sure he went to grad school at Wharton so that no one shot at him; just like Bill Clinton, and Bush the Lesser (he got into a guard unit which wasn’t being deployed and which no one could get into) – but at least they didn’t criticize John McCain’s war record.  It was reported yesterday that Trump’s deferments are once again under scrutiny.

His comments concerning Mexican “criminals” bringing in drugs and raping our women didn’t seem to hurt him any among the “I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore!” crowd.  That “raping” comment sounded just like that kid who killed black people at in Charleston – after all  black men were taking over and  raping our women.  I guess Republicans don’t see any similarities.  We need to take our country back.

So currently out in front for the GOP is a monumentally egotistical windbag with a 18% share of the Republican vote.

Next in the polls is Bush III, just what we need.   I would personally take Prince Harry (since he’s not being used) before the ascendancy to the throne of another Bush.  Or Clinton for that matter.  Can’t we find anyone else?

Behind Bush III is Scott Walker, Governor of Wisconsin, although he currently leads in Iowa.  He lead an assault on unionism not seen since days of yore.  He should be very proud.  And his state’s economy sucks.  Tsk Tsk.

Marco Rubio, our current Florida Senator is running but he’s has lots of problems over the immigration issue within his own party.  How quickly he forgets when his own paisani got off the boat from Cuba.  Oh I forgot.  They were refugees from Communism.  They were different and deserved special treatment.  Right.  He remains opposed to opening relations with Cuba.  What’s new.

And I don’t think we should forget the particularly odious Mike Huckabee who yesterday accused Obama of leading Israel to the doors of the ovens.  I would have thought the crazy bastard would be happy with the potential of Armageddon, the rapture and the coming of Jesus.  After all, the messiah will not return until the rebuilding of the Temple.  He and all the other candidates are opposed to the Iran treaty; all ready to nuke ’em till they glow.

Ted Cruz got slapped by his own party yesterday for calling the Senate Majority leader a liar.   Inter-party squabbles.  Tsktsk.

Nobody else of the sweet sixteen seems to have wing or a prayer to emerge as the GOP stalwart.  We have a pizza man, Carly Fiorina, a few governors, like Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and a few Senators no one outside of their home states has ever heard of or supports;  none of whom have a chance.

Needless to say we are all underwhelmed.

Which leaves us Hillary Clinton.  No one is excited about Hillary Clinton.  Her courtiers are still around her however she seems to be running the same style of campaign which disrupted her coronation last time around while the media still talks about her email fiasco while at State and Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi.

She hasn’t made a headline or had anything meaningful to say in months.  The party’s left wing knows she is a corporatist to the core and has deserted her in droves for Bernie Sanders who is drawing big, raucous crowds.  It will be interesting to see if and how  Hillary can manage to lose it again this time.

Prince Harry is looking better and better.
